Katie and Mike Durango Mountain Wedding in Colorado was the most amazing spot to get married. The Silverpick Lodge is this awesome little spot just off the road outside of Durango heading towards Ouray along the million dollar highway over Red Mountain Pass. Fall has to be my favorite season and nothing beats just relaxing and hearing the sound of wind breezing through aspen leaves. I grew up on the western slope in these mountains. I am from Montrose, Colorado and they have a special place in my heart; as do Katie and Mike. Never have I had such an amazing couple with so much love for each other, incredible style, and a love for whiskey. This day was effortless. Katie and Mike designed their wedding day so well that we had extra time for my favorite part of the day, portraits! Very rare indeed. They also had ample time to play lawn games with their guests before heading into the Sow’s Ear Restaurant for the reception. Being that this was several hours away from Denver we stayed a few nights at the Silverpick Lodge. It’s really great and has many rooms and some condos with full kitchens to rent. I will definitely keep this in mind this winter. Durango Mountain resort, Purgatory ski area is just about a mile down the road. Super close. My other photographer and I rode some bicycles up the mountain before the wedding to go check it out and get some good coffee. Mike also went with his groomsmen to do some downhill mountain biking. That would have been awesome to go too but alas, we had the tiny road bikes. While Katie and Mike did the majority of design and work on their wedding themselves, along with family. They did have some awesome other vendors that helped. Her beautiful flowers were by 3 Leaf Floral. The music and late-night karaoke was provided by Mr Soul Entertainment and hair by Anewu Salon. I miss you guys.
