Laurel, Erik and I struggled for months to finally be able to take their engagement photos. We scheduled it four times and on every day we chose it would dip down to 15° and be really windy. Not exactly ideal conditions to be running around the mountains of Estes Park kissing the one you love and trying to have fun when all you can think of is huddling around a fireplace. I’m glad it got put off as we ended up with a perfect sunshine-filled Colorado day. Starting out in Estes Park near some ranches and chasing the light down the valley towards Allenspark to get some of the amazing aspen tree shots you see here. Funny thing, the very next day it snowed really hard about 5 inches and was ugly overcast. Perfect timing! We were also blessed with an amazing sunset as we came out of the valley. Laurel and Erik are incredibly patient and a loving couple. You have to be pretty understanding and trusting when your photographer says, “I have this weird idea but we have to put you in this tiny blade of sunlight and try not to look cold,” and they are completely up for it. Its also incredible to note that their engagement photos got published over at Rocky Mountain Bride.
